Want in on the library ladder trend, but not sure which one to buy? It’s true, there are many
different types of rolling library ladders to choose from, which is one of the reasons why
they’re so popular. However, once you find the perfect ladder, it’s simple to integrate it into
your home décor. Whether you’re looking for something traditional or modern, you can find a
ladder that’s right for you. Aside from choosing the style of ladder you fancy, you’ll have to
determine how you want the ladder to function. In this case, there are two types mounting
styles to choose from – hook and rolling.
Why Choose a Hook-Style Library Ladder
In order to integrate a hook-style rolling ladder into your home, you’re going to need a certain
setup. This type of ladder has a J-style hook at the top, which allows it to attach to the railing.
You can easily pick up the ladder and unhook it from the railing to be placed on railing
elsewhere. This is an ideal setup if you have railings throughout a particular room. If all the
tracks aren’t all connected, you will need to have the ability to relocate the ladder as needed.
Also, if you have rails on both sides of a room, you will need this feature to move the ladder
from one side to the other.
If you opt for this functionality, make sure to inquire about the weight. The typical weight of
these ladders are between 30 and 70 pounds. Make sure you choose a weight that you are
comfortable with carrying. Also, keep in mind any obstructions there may be that could get in
the way of moving your ladder to another piece of railing.
Rolling Library Ladders
Unlike with the hook ladders, rolling ladders are permanently affixed to the railing. They move
about on two wheels – one above and one below the rail at the top. There are also wheels at
the bottom of the ladder that allow for easier maneuvering. This style ladder is ideal if you
have only one area you plan to use it in. It’s perfect for scaling a bookcase or a wall of
shelves. If you have issues with lifting weight over 25 pounds or have children or elderly
people who will be operating it, then a rolling ladder would be a better choice.
